HANDE TULUM OKUR

BAHCESEHIR UNIVERSITY

Hande Tulum Okur received her bachelor degree in architecture from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Faculty of Architecture, Department of Architecture in 2010; her graduate degree in History of Architecture from the same university in 2012. She completed her PhD in Architecture and Design at Bahçeşehir University in 2018 with her dissertation thesis named “Art and Architecture Synthesis in Turkey: From 1950s to 1970s”.

She started to work as an instructor at Bahçeşehir University, Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design in 2018. She continues to work as Assistant Professor Bahçeşehir University, Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design. Tulum Okur teaches undergraduate graduate courses on interior architecture and environmental design studios, history of architecture, history of interior architecture and graduate courses on research methods, contemporary design approaches, interior design history, the relationship between architecture, space and cinema.

Her main research topics include history of modern architecture in 20. century, history of modern interiors, the relationship of architecture and cinema, art and architecture synthesis, urban transformation, dwelling-housing culture in Istanbul, residential (apartment) production in Istanbul, documentation and conservation of modern heritage.
