T. ELVAN ALTAN
MIDDLE EAST TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY

 

Received her B.Arch (1989) and M.A. in History of Architecture (1991) degrees from Middle East Technical University, and her Ph.D. degree in History of Art and Architecture (1999) from SUNY Binghamton. She is a professor of architectural history at Middle East Technical University Department of Architecture.


Her research areas are nineteenth and twentieth century architecture, and architectural historiography, with a special focus on the history of the built environment in the late Ottoman and Turkish Republican contexts, and the capital city Ankara.


Altan works as a member of committees in related academic and professional organizations, and is also a member of DOCOMOMO_Turkey Executive Board and its Ankara Representative.
